"Where Legacy Becomes Luxury"

LAUFER1858™ - A Legacy Carried Forward

LAUFER1858™ is not a made-up heritage brand. It is built on the real life of Kalman Laufer, the man whose name and bloodline stand behind every piece we create.

Kalman was born on 13 February 1858, in Chernivtsi, Ukraine (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire). Like many in his community, he grew up in a world where survival depended on skill, discipline, and the ability to work with your hands. In 1888, he left Europe and crossed the ocean to begin again in the United States, settling first in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

LAUFER1858 is a living tribute to a real man, a real name, and a real lineage - carried forward in leather, one piece at a time.

In America his descendants took on the surname Seligman, yet the Laufer heritage remained unchanged.

Today, his great-great-granddaughter revives that original name in LAUFER1858™ — honoring both the year of his birth and the strength it took to carry a family from Chernivtsi to the East Coast of the United States.

Every LAUFER1858™ design is a quiet nod to that journey: European roots, Atlantic crossings, Philadelphia row houses, Atlantic City storefronts, and a family that stayed standing through it all. This is more than a logo and a date.
